1966 Pete Rose Game Worn Cincinnati Reds Jersey. Ask any serious uniform collector and he'll tell you, 1960's Cincinnati Reds vests are practically impossible to find. The reason isn't entirely clear, though there's no question the shirts were religiously sent down to the minors after the close of the Big League season each year. Almost none have survived that secondary usage.

This important gamer was rescued from the Reds' Tampa training grounds by a sportswriter. He was informed at that time that the jerseys were stripped of identifiers if they were above size "42" with numbers lower than "40," though the "Cincinnati" on front remained when it was recovered. The writer also was able to grab the removed number "14," constructed in the same two-ply tackle twill fashion as the city name on the chest, but we'll leave it to the winning bidder to determine whether reapplication should be undertaken. Please note that, in our catalog imagery, the number is shown to indicate its proper position, but is not reaffixed to the jersey. A second number "14" was once positioned on lower left chest, and while the outline is clearly visible, the numbers themselves are not available.

The stitching path of the "14 Rose" on verso is still very clearly evident, and serves to make this a unique and highly coveted style given the atypical placement of the numeral above the surname. Proper "MacGregor Size 44" label remains at interior collar, with "MacGregor Set 2 1966" and washing instructions labels at lower left interior tail. Despite its team instituted post-use alterations, this is unquestionably one of the most desirable Rose jerseys ever to surface and a rarely seen fashion which would be enormously desirable even without its Hit King heritage.
