1962 Casey Stengel Game Worn New York Mets Pants from the Casey Stengel Collection. Uniform collectors that will settle for nothing less than a jersey may well change their tunes with the offering of this splendid rarity, a pair of road grey flannel pants worn by the legendary skipper as he guided the Mets to a dismal 120-game loss inaugural season. The combination of Hall of Fame pedigree and Mets franchise relevance is impossible to dismiss. Furthermore, we should note that an included letter of authenticity from the consignor states that she delivered the full uniform to the funeral home where Casey lay in state, and that the matching jersey was buried with Stengel. The same is true of the Yankees pants also in this auction. These Mets pants show even, consistent wear with "Wilson [size] 40" label inside the waistband beside the all-important embroidered swatch announcing "37-1962" (Stengel's uniform number and year, respectively). Pants show none of the damage so often associated with decades-old flannel, and display perfectly. LOA from MEARS.
