Description

1961 Bubba Phillips Game Worn Jersey. A top twenty finish in the 1961 American League MVP voting establishes this as Phillips finest season in the Bigs. The sure-handed third baseman posted a career-best seventy-two runs batted in the year he sported this home white pinstriped jersey as a member of the Tribe. "Indians" stands in red and blue tackle twill lettering arching across the jersey front, with Phillips' number "5" and Chief Wahoo patches on the right and left sleeves respectively. Number "5" is repeated on verso. "Wilson [size] 44" label is applied at lower front left tail, just above an embroidered swatch recalling the historic 1961 season. Healthy, consistent wear is evident throughout, and some scattered pinprick holes are so minor as to barely merit a mention. A popular five-year style (1958-62) utilized just before the Indians' first experiment with jersey vests for the 1963 season. LOA from Lou Lampson.
