Description

1960's Walt Alston Game Worn Los Angeles Dodgers Jacket. Though the entirety of his playing career was confined to a single 1936 appearance with the St. Louis Cardinals to replace an ejected Johnny Mize, Alston would join his former teammate in Cooperstown in 1983 on the strength of twenty-three seasons at the managerial helm of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. Presented is a classic team jacket worn in the dugout by the four-time World Championship skipper near the center of his lengthy tenure. The fleece-lined garment would have been ideal for October baseball and features a white tackle twill "Dodgers" scripted across the chest and Alston's since-retired number "24" applied above each sleeve cuff. Proper "Wm. Goodman & Sons [size] 48" label appears at interior collar. Solid wear throughout. The garment was gifted to Alston's cousin and includes a letter of provenance from the family. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
