Description

1960 Lou Boudreau & Danny Murphy Game Worn & Signed Chicago Cubs Jersey. He made his first appearance in a Major League uniform for the 1938 Cleveland Indians, earning a 1948 MVP Award and World Championship with the franchise, as well as eventual enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Presented is one of the very last jerseys worn by the Cooperstown immortal, as skipper for the Chicago Cubs, his last paid gig in the Bigs before transitioning to a broadcasting career.

Road grey flannel saw Boudreau commanding troops including Ernie Banks, Ron Santo and Richie Ashburn, exhibiting appropriate wear for managerial duties. "Chicago" arches gently across the chest in blue-on-red felt block lettering, with the sport's hallowed number "42" on verso. Interior collar swatch is embroidered, "42-1960-3-42." Lower left front tail is tagged, "Wilson [size] 42" with secondary tag worn and faded beyond legibility below. Chest is autographed in 9/10 black sharpie with "MVP 1948, HOF 1970" notations.

The jersey was worn by manager Boudreau from May 5th to early June. After Boudreau switched to number "5," the jersey was later worn by outfielder Danny Murphy during the September call-up period. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
