1960 Hank Bauer Game Worn Jersey. An American League force to be reckoned with in the late 1920's and early 1930's, the Athletics had effectively become by this time little more than a New York Yankees farm club from which the Bronx would pick its future stars and dispose of its old ones. This home white flannel Kansas City A's jersey found the seven-time World Champion Bauer at the tail end of his career, sent to the last place Athletics in a trade that brought Roger Maris into the pinstriped fold. As such, this rare gamer carries particular significance in baseball history to match its magnificent display potential. Scripted navy and orange "Athletics" slants across the chest, with number "9" on verso (interestingly the number that Maris would assume in New York). A fantastic chenille elephant patch resides on the left sleeve. "Wilson [size] 42" label in collar. Chain stitched "Set 1-1960-9" is sewn directly into the left front tail. Spectacular wear and all proper specifications provides a base grade of 10 from authenticator Dave Bushing, though four points are eventually deducted due to loosening of the rear number, three small holes on the verso and mild staining throughout. Considering that all of these factors are emblematic of use and age, this is a jersey that ranks far stronger than its technical A6 score. LOA from Dave Bushing. LOA from Lou Lampson.
