1959-60 Ted Kluszewski Game Worn Chicago White Sox Jersey, MEARS A10. He was brought to Chicago in late August of 1959 to add slugging power to a White Sox team angling for their first American League pennant since Shoeless Joe, and it was a gamble that paid off. Automobile mogul Jim Moran offered a free car to any White Sox player who hit a home run in the World Series, and Kluszewski drove off with three 1960 Ford Falcons for his Fall Classic heroics, but the Go Go Sox would fall to the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

Presented is a road grey flannel worn during that memorable era, with the significantly shortened sleeves that was the husky slugger's trademark. "Chicago" arches gently across the chest in black tackle twill , with "Kluszewski" commanding every inch of the massive shoulders on reverse above a number "8." That surname appears again upon an embroidered swatch at interior collar. Lower left front tail is tagged "Wilson [size] 48" with a washing instructions label and another embroidered swatch reading "1959-4" below. The glowing letter of examination from MEARS suggests that the Set 4 designation is likely a special World Series order, and that the jersey was reused during the 1960 season, as the 1959 gamers did not feature names on back. A handwritten "1-59" in the collar is dismissed by their experts as immaterial.

Fire Commissioner Robert J. Quinn ordered a celebratory five-minute sounding of the city's air-raid sirens upon the ChiSox clinching of the pennant for the first time since Shoeless Joe, a rather questionable judgment call in an era when Nikita Khruschev's threat to bury America was still fresh in the minds of every American. But as thousands huddled in their basements and prayed, many thousands more rejoiced, their baseball prayers already answered. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
