1958 Wes Covington Game Worn Milwaukee Braves Jersey. It's easily our favorite post-war Big League style, and this one takes the appeal a step further, adding National League Championship vintage to the mix. This home white flannel comes to us directly from the widow of the talented outfielder Covington, who posted the best season of his eleven-year career in 1958, batting an eye-popping .330 en route to a sixteenth-place finish in MVP voting. The classic tomahawk imagery runs a diagonal between felt scripted "Braves" and number "43" on the chest, with those digits repeated in larger format on verso. Awesome screaming brave head patch remains at left sleeve. Interior collar holds embroidered "Covington 1958" swatch, and "Wilson [size] 44" label is secured to lower left front tail. Zipper front is broken, as is typical for Braves jerseys of this vintage. Solid wear is evident, but the jersey remains free of stains and tears, displaying wonderfully. A gorgeous garment that recalls those two great Fall Classic battles between Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle in the late Fifties. Letter of provenance from widow of Wes Covington. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
