    1958 Elroy Face Game Worn & Signed Pittsburgh Pirates Jersey. During his tenure in the Steel City, Elroy Face was a pioneering relief pitcher, the most feared closer of the 1950's and 60's, consistently effective (six All-Star berths and three saves titles), and unbelievably durable (only one disabled list appearance in sixteen years).

    A vital component of the Pirates 1960 World Series championship team, he pitched in sixty-eight games, saved twenty-four, and posted a 2.90 ERA while saving three games in the Fall Classic. In 1959, he posted a .947 winning percentage while going a 18-1 with a 2.70 ERA. In 1958, the season during which he wore the jersey on offer here, Elroy finished forty games, recorded a league-high twenty saves, and posted a superb 2.89 ERA.

    This road gray flannel vest features "Pirates" (classic serifed font) arched cross the chest and "26" (full block font) on the verso, all sewn-on in black on gold felt twill. Gold and black piping adorns the collar and arm-openings. Tags include "MacGregor" in the collar and "Set 1 1958" in the tail. Furthermore, the front is signed and inscribed "Elroy Face 1958 Game Jersey" in bold black sharpie. The jersey shows fine wear but remains in exemplary condition. It should also be noted that the seven gray buttons are completely original. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
