1957 Lew Burdette Game Worn Jersey. The number two ace behind legendary southpaw Warren Spahn during the 1957 National League Championship season, Burdette came up absolutely huge in that season's Fall Classic meeting with the mighty Yanks, surrendering just two earned runs in three complete game victories, including a shutout performance in a Game Seven masterpiece in the Bronx to seal the Series. While it would be impossible to determine if this is the shirt Burdette wore during that dominating and decisive performance, it is worthy of note that the jersey derives from the collection of fellow Brave Dixie Walker, and was the only gamer Walker possessed other than his own.

Expanding upon the desirability inherent in its vintage and parentage, the grey flannel roadster provides the most appealing aesthetics of the Major League age. Bold red and black felt announce "Braves 33," framing a beautifully rendered tomahawk on the chest. Two-tone piping gives the collar, button path and sleeve ends added flair, and number "33" is repeated in felt on verso. The majestic chenille logo Indian head patch rides the left sleeve. A proper "Wilson [size] 42" label resides in left front tail, above a white felt swatch that literally hangs on by a thread to announce "Burdette 1957."

A full season's wear is evident throughout. Moth holes at the elasticized armpits and lightly scattered across the body cause no major concerns, nor does the light spattering of white paint on the chest. Our catalog imagery should properly indicate that the jersey presents very well to this day, and ably serves as a memorial to the finest days of Milwaukee Braves history. LOA from Lou Lampson. Letter of provenance from Dixie Walker's son.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
