1957 Enos Slaughter Game Worn New York Yankees Jersey. The Hall of Fame outfielder earned a Cooperstown plaque for a career of brilliance, but he'll always be best remembered for his "Mad Dash" in the seventh game of the 1946 World Series to extend "The Curse of the Bambino" and secure a Cardinals World Championship at the expense of Ted Williams' Boston Red Sox. Eleven seasons later, at the advanced age of forty-one, "Country" suited up in this home white pinstriped jersey in support of the American League Champion New York Yankees, adding five more games to his Fall Classic experience in the losing effort. The jersey shows strong wear, but it should be noted that a degree of this is attributable to post-Slaughter farm club use, where the logo "NY" and number "17" on verso were removed. Professional restoration, and the replacement of the top button, has returned the garment to its original condition. Interior collar is labeled "Spalding [size] 44," and lower left front tail holds embroidered "Slaughter 17 57," balanced by an 8/10 blue sharpie signature at lower right. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first Slaughter pinstriper to surface in the collecting hobby. LOA from MEARS, A6.5. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
