1956 Milwaukee Braves Game Worn Jersey & 1955 Matching Pants. We all know that the Milwaukee Braves won two National League pennants and a World Series in 1957 and 1958, but they came a single game from beginning their Senior Circuit domination a year earlier, the season Al Spangler was issued this home white flannel jersey. Though Spangler, who is best remembered as the best hitter of the expansion 1962 Houston Colt 45s, didn't make the active Braves roster until 1959, he is listed in "Baseball by the Numbers" as the owner of the number "26" jersey for the Braves in 1956, so this is no minor league affair. The gorgeous aesthetics remain in full effect, with the tomahawk emblem on the chest and screaming brave patch at left sleeve. Zipper front is fully functional. Tail is tagged "Wilson [size] 40" with washing instruction label and "Spangler 56" swatch below. Minor staining and a dot of white paint on front, small tear in rear tail. Moderate wear, likely from secondary minor league usage, as jersey is accompanied by matching pants holding a "O'Connell '55" swatch at interior waistband, along with "Wilson [size[ 36" and washing instructions labels. Heavier wear here, with some staining and small holes. A fine example of the pinnacle of 1950's baseball fashion, ready to give your trophy room some much-needed style. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
