1955 Andy Carey Game Worn Jersey. The fleet-footed third baseman led the American League in triples the season he made use of this home white pinstriped flannel jersey as a key component in the Yanks' American League pennant annexation. The jersey's classic stylings should be recognizable to all living in places other than beneath a rock, with "NY" logo over heart and only a numeral (a "6" in this case) upon verso, though we must note that these have been reaffixed after the jersey's second life in the minors subsequent to Carey's use. Marvelous wear is evident in the wear to the "Spalding [size] 44" labeling inside the collar and a tremendous team repair on the right sleeve. A navy blue chainstitched "Carey, 55-6" notes player, year and jersey number in the lower front tail, and a washing instructions label sprouts a "Set 1 1955" flap tag on the interior. As a member of seven American League Championship Yankee teams, Carey remains a solid fixture in the hearts of Bronx rooters, and we're certain that many will monitor this auction with due attention. LOA from Lou Lampson.
