    Description

1954 Eddie Yost Game Worn Washington Senators Jersey. Eddie Yost was a slick fielding third baseman who continued to thrive at 'the hot corner' long after his playing days were over, as a prominent third base coach for three major league teams, including, most notably, the 1969 Miracle Mets. The Walking Man also had an uncanny ability to coax walks, accruing seasons of over 120 walks a staggering eight times in his eighteen-year career and finishing with a lifetime on-base percentage of almost .400.

Here we present the eagle-eyed leadoff hitter's home white pinstripe flannel from the 1954 campaign. The zipper-front garment displays a captivating "W" over the left breast, sewn on in navy on red tackle twill. Yost's "1" has been removed from the verso, most likely for continued use in the Washington farm system. The collar reports "Yost E," chainstitched in navy thread over a soft felt swatch. Meanwhile, in the tail we find a "Wilson" manufacturer's tag, "42" size tag, washing instructions label, faded flap tag, and "1954" year designation stitched in navy. The jersey exhibits good even wear throughout. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
