1954 Bob Talbot Game Worn Chicago Cubs Jacket. Talbot's abridged Major League service may have established his name as unfamiliar to all but the most encyclopedic baseball minds, but who needs fame when you've got looks like these? One of the coolest post-war jackets in the hobby derives from the former outfielder's locker, a blue wool letterman style such as the one worn by a rookie Ernie Banks during this memorable age in baseball history. We love the canvas patch over the heart, and the patriotic elasticized edging at collar, cuffs and waist. Interior collar holds "Ace Talbot" identifier. Some scattered moth damage and a missing button cause little distraction. Here's your chance to be the best dressed fan at Wrigley this Fall. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
