1952 Lou Boudreau Game Worn Boston Red Sox Jersey, MEARS A10 with Probable Photo Match! Unless you select his 1970 Hall of Fame induction instead, the pinnacle of Lou Boudreau's career came in 1948 when he took American League MVP honors as a player while simultaneously managing his Cleveland Indians to its second (and still most recent) World Series Championship. But, like so many all-time greats, Boudreau was unceremoniously released from the team he had represented for the entirety of his career when his powers started to decline, playing his last eighty-four games for the 1951 and 1952 Boston Red Sox.This jersey derives from Handsome Lou's final year in the Bigs, showing the kind of light wear appropriate for the three road games he played that season. The classic, understated design features midnight navy blue felt on gray flannel announcing "Boston" across the chest and number" 4" on verso, a digit now retired from service in honor of Joe Cronin. Lower left front tail provides "Tim McAuliffe [size] 44" tagging above "1952, 44, 3 in, 4" embroidered directly into the jersey body. No stains or any other forms of damage are present, leaving the garment in superior condition for display.
Note that an attempt at photo matching was made, but imagery of Boudreau in 1952 is very limited. The experts found a high-probability match to the 1953 Bowman Color #57 card, but the details were not clear enough to assert a definitive match. LOA from MEARS, A10.
