1951 Jerry Coleman Game Worn New York Yankees Jersey. If you take the Ruth/Gehrig era out of the voting, most Yankee fans would most choose to park their time machines in 1951, the only year that Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle shared a dugout (and a World Championship). Here we present a rare grey roadster from that chronological crossroads, worn by starting second baseman Jerry Coleman. The classic design endures to this day, with "New York" in bold block navy felt on chest and number "42" on verso, reminiscent of the great Jackie Robinson who would fall to Bobby Thomson's famous "shot" this season. The highly desirable American League Golden Anniversary patch remains affixed at left sleeve. Interior collar is tagged "A.G. Spalding & Bros." with "Dry Clean Only" and size "42" tags just below. Embroidered directly into the lower left front tail is "J Coleman 51." Solid wear evident, but no damage, leaving the jersey in perfect condition for display. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
