Description
1950's Yogi Berra Game Worn Catcher's Mask with Berra Letter. He owns thirteen World Championship rings, ten earned as a player and three as a coach, all claimed in his adopted Big Apple hometown. Presented here is one of just a few known surviving catcher's masks worn by the Hall of Fame backstop during his Yankees tenure, exhibiting very solid use from the most successful era in New York Yankees franchise history. The mask appears practically medieval in its construction, a black cast iron shell to which soft padded brown leather is strapped with leather bands. Leather and elastic bands kept the mask secured to Berra's helmet, with the center band embossed "Yogi Berra 1514." A "Spalding" tag is applied to the back. Letter of provenance from Berra himself is included. Catcher's gear from this iconic Yankee is the toughest of quarry for the Yankee collector, and this example provides the use and provenance to elevate it to the top of that thin supply. Letter of provenance from Yogi Berra.More information about Yogi Berra Sports Player.
