    Description

1950 Jack Maguire Game Worn Uniform. We could legitimately point out that the offered home white flannel is Maguire's rookie model, though the appeal here is clearly the gorgeous New York Giants style, given Maguire's brief service to the Major Leagues. Despite the fact that the jersey's former owner is no household name, we are nonetheless transported back to the Polo Grounds by the sight of his shirt, which proclaims "Giants" with black and orange felt in the classic Old English font. Number "29" appears upon verso, though we must note that the second digit has been changed from its original "4." The "2" remains original and unmoved, and the number change clearly was rendered soon after, or perhaps even during, the 1950 season. "Maguire 24" is embroidered upon a felt swatch inside the collar, below the "MacGregor Goldsmith size 42" maker's label. A "Set 1 1950" flap tag is affixed to the interior button path. The jersey shows fine wear but surrenders none of its beauty to age, remaining free of staining or cloth damage. The matching pants have no player attribution or year tagging, but provide "A.G. Spalding & Bros." manufacturer's tagging framed by "Dry Clean Only" and size "36" labels. Vintage team repairs are noted, but the pants otherwise present wonderfully and make a perfect visual complement to the jersey. LOA from Lou Lampson.
