Description

1950 Duke Snider Game Worn Brooklyn Dodgers Jersey. A black sharpie signature on the chest of this rare roadster is notated "5-10-50," the date that the future Hall of Fame centerfielder clubbed his 200th career home run against Cubs pitcher Warren Hacker at Wrigley Field. While it is unlikely that this jersey could be definitively pegged to that particular game, there's a great chance it is indeed the one Snider was wearing, as ballplayers were typically issued just two home and two road uniforms each season. And even if the Duke was sporting his other road uniform that date, we can be sure that some good work was done in this example, as Snider led the National League with 199 hits in 1950, and his thirty-one homers was good enough for top five placement.

The grey flannel garment was reconditioned for secondary use at the minor league level following the Duke's ownership, so we must report that the "Dodgers" script on the chest and the number "4" on verso are not original, but rather professionally restored to their original state, a four-point MEARS deduction. A half point for soiling and a half point for a few scattered holes in the tail complete the A5 rating. It must be stressed, however, the grade is in no way indicative of any authenticity concerns, as the experts agree that the "E. Snider 50" embroidered directly into the jersey tail is original and unaltered. The same is true of the "Rawlings St. Louis" label at interior collar, above a size "42" and washing instructions tag.

Brooklyn Dodgers uniforms are quite tough and highly coveted by collectors, so it should go without saying that those owned and worn by the Hall of Fame icons of the Boys of Summer carry tremendous collecting appeal. Smart investors pay close attention to offerings such as this. LOA from MEARS, A5. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
