Description

1949 Tommy Henrich Game Worn Jersey. This classic home white pinstriped flannel was always a welcome sight to fans in the Bronx when the game was on the line. Alternately referred to as "Mister Clutch" and "Old Reliable," the star outfielder always seemed to make that timely hit or game-saving catch, and Heritage is pleased to present this remarkable artifact from his 1949 World Championship season. The unmistakable "NY" logo over the heart and number "15" on verso remain affixed in place, having never budged from their original affixing unlike so many Yankee flannels of the era. Proper "A.G. Spalding & Bros" label inside collar is applied above size "44" and washing instructions tags, and a 10/10 blue sharpie signature from Henrich appears just below. Chainstitched in the tail, and perfectly matching period exemplars, is "Henrich 49." Thorough season-long wear is evident throughout, but the flannel remains in terrific, undamaged condition. It's interesting to note that this is the same jersey Henrich is wearing upon the February 1950 cover of Sport Magazine, a copy of which is included within this lot. LOA from Lou Lampson. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph).
