    Description

1949 Johnny Mize Game Worn New York Giants Pants.
After leading the National League in home runs in both 1947 (51) and 1948 (40), the Big Cat was inexplicably reined in during the 1949 Giants campaign, and ultimately dealt to the Yankees after complaining about his lack of playing time. So this pair of pants was one of the last worn by Mize before his August 22, 1949 sale to the Yanks for $40,000.

The road grey flannel garment nonetheless exhibits solid game wear, tagged "MacGregor Goldsmith size 40" at interior waistband, with a "Set 1 1949" year tag nearby. An embroidered swatch at rear interior reads, "John Mize 15." Black and orange trim at side seams is fully intact with none of the fraying typically found in garments of such advanced age. An exciting opportunity to own genuine Hall of Fame flannel at a price considerably below what a jersey would command. A signed gold Hall of Fame plaque is included in the lot for display purposes. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
