    Description

1949-51 Boston Red Sox Game Worn Jersey. Home white flannel was located in the personal estate of a former Big League hopeful who attended Spring Training with the BoSox over half a century ago. Our range of years in the auction title results from an embroidered "49" swatch inside the front tail and the American League Golden Anniversary patch present on the left sleeve. While it would be impossible to definitively attribute the jersey to any single player, those issued number "34" during the 1949 to 1951 span include Babe Martin, Dick Littlefield, Al Papal, Al Richter and Jimmy Piersall, though this inspiration for the film "Fear Strikes Out" did not appear in a Major League Game wearing these digits. "Red Sox" arches gently in Old English font across the white flannel chest, which has aged to a coffee tone over the passing decades. "McAuliffe" and "Wilson" labels appear inside the collar, along with a size "46" designator. A fine remembrance of the days of Ted Williams, Dom DiMaggio and Johnny Pesky. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
