1946 St. Louis Browns Game Worn Cap. By 1946, the boys had come marching home from World War II and the St. Louis Browns' giddy two-year stretch of contending in the American League was over. This rare style cap was worn in that first postwar season; it's in a decent collectible condition with little more than some dirt and a bit of staining showing on the front and some more elaborate difficulties inside. On the cap, all the orange-trimmed eyelets are intact, and the orange "STL" logo is unmolested and betrays only a bit of dirt. The top of the brim shows the nice dark brown, with only two or three small holes from wear. Inside there's some rusting around the top bottom of the cap and quite a bit of wear and damage to the sweatband, along with some dirt underneath the brim. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
