    Description

1946 John Pavlick Game Worn St. Louis Browns Jersey. They're the Baltimore Orioles now, but the old St. Louis Browns enjoy a fervent collecting base almost six decades after their exodus to the East. Game worn uniforms are particularly tough, so we expect considerable interest in this zipper-front grey roadster dating to the first year of peacetime baseball after four seasons of World War II. "Browns" arches across chest in three-dimensional orange and brown felt, with number "43" similarly fashioned on reverse. Brown and orange piping traces the lines of the zipper path and cuffs. Interior collar is tagged "Rawlings St. Louis" with size "44" and "Dry Clean Only" labels below. Embroidered directly into jersey body at lower left front tail is "Pavlick 46." Garment remains in splendid shape with no faults beyond a few inconsequential moth holes in rear numerals. Pavlick never saw Major League action, which may account for the fine condition. This is just about as nice as they come. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
