    Description

1945 Jack Kramer Game Worn & Signed St. Louis Browns Jersey, MEARS A9.5. Defending American League Champions! It was a distinction the St. Louis Browns enjoyed only once, as the franchise would relocate to Baltimore before it would sniff October baseball again--in fact, this 1945 season represents the last time the long-suffering Browns would even post a winning record.

The Second World War was the cause of the reshuffling of the Junior Circuit power dynamic, and this gorgeous home white flannel garment is further beautified by the patriotic Stars and Stripes patch affixed to left sleeve, worn only during the war years. But there's far more than that to love in this rare style, from the awesome three-dimensional "Browns" on the chest and number "19" on verso to the satin collar and button path detailing and the corresponding sleeve and cuff trim. The sole half-point lost in MEARS' grading is due to wear at back collar. Interior collar holds local "Rawlings St. Louis" label and "44 Regular" size tag, while "Kramer 45" is embroidered directly into lower left front tail. Game wear is heavy, suggesting the possibility of secondary farm club use.

Kramer posted a zero ERA in eleven innings of 1944 World Series work, including a complete Game Three victory. He'd play for the Red Sox, Giants and Yankees before his final release from the Majors in August of 1951. His black sharpie signature is 9/10 at upper left chest. LOA from MEARS, A9.5. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
