    Description

1930's Lou Gehrig Game Worn Stirrups. We've been unable to positively identify the uniform from which this pair of stirrups derived--they don't seem to match either Tour of Japan, which had been our assumption--but there's no doubt they are the Iron Horse's, as they were packaged with the rest of the collection sold in our August Platinum Night and this November auction. They are clearly 1920's or 1930's vintage heavy wool professional quality, and a paper tag near the top of one is too faded to read, but does seem to feature a name beginning with the letter "G." If a collector helps with identification during the course of the auction, we'll update this text online, so thanks in advance for any assistance.

The Lou Gehrig Collection, Part II.

The noble Iron Horse rides once again, and for the final time within the confines of The Lou Gehrig Collection presented by Heritage Auctions. The incredible offering of personally owned material from the Yankees legend first appeared within our August 2011 "Platinum Night" event. We made sure to hold a few great pieces back for our November auction, and this is one of them. This material was left to the consignor's family by Lou's mother Christina Gehrig upon her passing in the 1950's, and makes its hobby debut here.
