Description
1925-39 Vintage Flannel Baseball Uniform. Flannel uniforms were worn for the first 100 years of Major League Baseball and hold a special place in the hearts of uniform collectors as so many of the all-time greats played either partially or exclusively in that fabric.This complete uniform on offer here, constructed of heavy grade wool flannel blend fabric, is wonderfully accented by blue pinstriping and aqua/gold piping, which runs around the collar, sleeve cuffs, and down the center of the jersey, bordering the button path. "Kings," arched across the chest in purple felt letters, is still beautiful despite the fact that some of the felt has degraded. Identical Spalding tags in both the jersey and matching pants date the uniform to the mid-1920's to late-1930s period. Rectangular swatches in the jersey (remnants) and pants (present but faded) were probably used for sizing or player identification. Once white, the uniform has since faded to a cream color through wear and the passage of time, with some staining and a couple of holes present in the fabric. Even with its distractions, this complete uniform would still make for an interesting complement to a period display.
