1911 Ernie Ovitz Game Worn Chicago Cubs Cap. A real-life "Moonlight Graham," this young pitcher's entire Major League career consisted of two innings of work against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago's West Side Grounds on June 22, 1911. Presented is the single relic retained by his family over a century after his flash of spotlight, an exceedingly rare uniform cap identical to those worn by Tinker, Evers, Chance and the rest of the second-place Cubbies. Soiled and as soft as suede, the cap bears no interior labeling or identifiers, but the provenance is unquestionably, consigned along with Ovitz' University of Illinois jersey likewise presented in this Signature auction. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
