    Description

The Earliest Known New York Yankees Franchise (1902 Baltimore Orioles) Ticket Stub (PSA Authentic) & Scorecard.
Check the PSA population chart and you'll find a single entry for the Baltimore Orioles of 1901 or 1902, and this is it. As we all know, the team was one of the original eight that formed the nascent American League at the dawn of the twentieth century, but it folded after two years to be reborn as the 1903 New York Highlanders of Hilltop Park. With the team's relocation to the Polo Grounds in 1913, the franchise officially took on the Yankees moniker it retains to this day.

The ancient stub, trumpeting, "The Baltimore Base Ball & Athletic Co., American League" exhibits minor paper loss on back and a tape-reinforced lower right corner crack, but such condition concerns must be dismissed in light of the relic's singular rarity.

While the 1902 vintage does not appear anywhere on the stub, it was sourced with tattered remains of the earliest known Yankees franchise scorecard, very lightly pencil-scored for a meeting with the Washington Senators and dated "May 12, 1902" in ink. Hall of Famers listed include McGraw, Kelley, Wilbert Robinson, Bresnahan, McGinnity and Delehanty. Ticket encapsulated by PSA, Authentic.
