Description

1990 Ken Griffey, Sr. & Jr. First Game Seattle Mariners Ticket Stub, PSA EX 5--Pop One, One Higher.

"Here he is, a father, a veteran player ending his career, and the son is a brilliant young talent, just like his father was when he was first starting his career, and they're both going to be out there together. Today is a great day for baseball. It's a great day for Seattle. It's a great day for the Mariners." -- Mariners manager Jim Lefebvre.

After being released by Cincinnati halfway through the 1990 season, Ken Griffey, Sr. signed with Seattle so he could join his son in the lineup with the M's. The duo played together for the first time on August 31, 1990 in the Seattle Kingdome versus the Royals. In doing so, they became the first father and son to play as teammates in a Major League game.

The forty-year-old Griffey, Sr. batted second and played left, while Jr, batted right after him in the third slot and played along side him in centerfield. In the first inning, as if following a Hollywood script, both father and son recorded singles in their first at bats.

Here is a ticket from that iconic and heartwarming game. Pop one, one higher. Encapsulated by PSA, EX 5.
