1961 Roger Maris 61st Home Run Ticket Stub. The chase for sixty-one home runs in 1961 made for one of the most exciting summers in baseball memory. The world watches Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris duke it out, going shot for shot on a pace to eclipse Babe Ruth's magical mark of sixty home runs. Mantle fell short due to a late season injury, leaving Maris to bear the brunt of the stress and criticism directed at anyone daring to approach Ruth. Losing clumps of hair during the season, a nervous Maris approached the plate in the final game of the season on October 1st. The fourth inning shot went deep to right field to win the game, as well as take home the home run crown. This ticket stub exhibits well despite the creases running vertically, rating a Good overall. It has been framed with two copies of newspaper clippings in a 9x12" frame.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
