    Description

1957 New York Giants Final Polo Grounds Games Ticket Stubs Lot of 2. History abounds at the Polo Grounds, quite literally. First built in 1880 and home to the New York Metropolitans, the stadium most commonly referred to is actually the third incarnation of the famous venue. Reconstructed in 1890 it was initially known as Brotherhood Park, and played host to the second New York Giants baseball franchise. Although fire destroyed much of the wood in 1911, it was completely rebuilt and continued to be the Giants' home for a total of sixty-nine years. On September 29th, 1957, the final game for the New York Giants was played in the Polo Grounds against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The following season the team would move to San Francisco. In total, the Giants won five World Series Championships in the Polo Grounds. Offered in this lot are ticket stubs from the final two games played. Game seventy-six is in VG-EX condition, while the final game seventy-seven stub rates VG but presents better.
