1941 Lou Gehrig Memorial Game New York Yankees Ticket Stub. Succumbing to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or "Lou Gehrig's Disease" as it has come to be known, "The Iron Horse" bowed out for the final time two years before this memorial game was held. He was honored as the quiet hero that he was, with commoners and dignitaries side by side at this event to say their final goodbyes. Gehrig probably would have hated all the commotion being about him, but to America, the hero needed a final farewell.

Originally planned for Independence Day, a rainout moved the event to July 6th. One of the most popular tickets of any genre, this stub features Gehrig in a humble, reflective pose in his Yankee pinstripes, with the usual ticket nomenclature on the side and reverse. This offering exhibits light creasing in one quadrant, a stain in the upper right, and some form of adhesive coating neatly layered on the reverse. Don't let the description fool you, however. Aesthetically speaking, this is one of the finer examples of this stub we have seen, as it presents as Excellent or better.
