1939 Lou Gehrig Last Game Ticket Stub & Program with 1982 Cal Ripken, Jr. First Game of Streak Ticket Stub. One Horse, one Man, both made of Iron. This special lot reminds us what is most noble and good about our National Pastime, the dedication and toughness to overcome any obstacle. We begin with a VG-EX ticket stub and VG-EX game program (much better appearance, but some spine separation) for Gehrig's 2,130th and final consecutive game. The latter is scored in pencil at center, Gehrig's hitless performance in the five spot the final straw in his decision to take a seat. It should be noted that another variation of this scorecard exists that properly places DiMaggio on the injured/reserves list, but this scorecard was clearly printed for this series, as Gehrig would otherwise have been out of the batting order for any Bronx meeting with Washington. Even more scarce--one of just a handful known--is the stub for an Orioles game in Toronto that would only prove its relevance many years later, the first of 2,632 consecutive appearances for Cal Ripken, Jr., who would top Gehrig's streak over a half century after that sad last day in the Bronx. VG-EX.
