    Description

1939 Baseball Hall of Fame Grand Opening Program with Cavalcade of Baseball & All-Star Game Ticket. The centennial season of baseball is remembered for the debut of Ted Williams and the tragic departure of Lou Gehrig, but it could be argued that the most significant event of the season took place in a sleepy little upstate New York village called Cooperstown. Here we present one lucky baseball fan's personal mementoes from the grand opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame, an event that saw the official immortalization of Ruth, Cobb, Wagner and several other Dead Ball and Golden Age legends. Receiving top billing is a full ticket to the All-Star Game exhibition game. The ticket has corner wear but appears crease free. Also included is a program to the festivities. The unscored publication has moderate wear throughout and chipping to the corners. Stapled into the opening page is a Rawlings representative's business card. The final piece of the puzzle is a general admission ticket to the Cavalcade of Baseball held June 12, 1939.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
