Population one, four superior!

1932 World Series Game Three Full Ticket (Babe Ruth's Called Shot), PSA VG-EX 4. In the grainy film footage, the Babe's arm is clearly extended, but where was he pointing? Several witnesses to the event swear by the tale's veracity, including United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who was a twelve-year old attending the game with his father on October 1, 1932. "Ruth did point to the center-field scoreboard. And he did hit the ball out of the park after he pointed. So it really happened." Teammate Lou Gehrig weighed in as well, telling reporters, "What do you think of the nerve of that big monkey? Imagine the guy calling his shot and getting away with it." But Babe Herman recounted a conversation between Ruth and his victim, Chicago Cubs pitcher Charlie Root, on the set of the famous Lou Gehrig biopic "The Pride of the Yankees."

Root: "You never pointed out to center field before you hit that ball of me, did you?"
Ruth: "I know I didn't, but it made a hell of a story, didn't it?"

Absolutely it did. The fact that the tale will always occupy ground somewhere in that hazy realm between fact and fiction seems particularly apt when considering that Babe Ruth was living folklore himself, a Paul Bunyan figure that lived and breathed and walked among us. Of his 729 home runs in Major League competition, the sum of his regular and postseason tallies, the "Called Shot" remains the most famous of them all, and this ticket would have granted access to the occasion. This specimen presents better than its technical grade, as a small stain on the rear border surely accounts for the loss of one point in the PSA assessment if not two. Encapsulated by PSA, VG-EX 4.
