The St. Louis Cardinals claim their first World Championship!

1926 World Series Game Seven Full Ticket, PSA Authentic. The most glorious day in Cardinals history found two New York Yankees legends in the unlikely role of the goat in this winner-takes-all contest to determine Major League supremacy. After a blister forced Hall of Fame Cardinals pitcher Jesse Haines from the mound with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, fellow pitching legend Grover Cleveland Alexander took to the hill, fresh off a complete game victory a day earlier, and a reported alcoholic bender to follow.

Hall of Fame second baseman Tony Lazzeri was the batter, a rookie whose eighteen home runs during the regular season ranked him third in the American League after teammates Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who joined Earle Combs on the packed basepaths. After a ball and a strike, Lazzeri launched a long drive down the left field line that appeared to be a go-ahead grand slam, but the ball curved at the last moment into foul ground. The next pitch found the young slugger unable to catch up to Alexander's heater, ending the Yankee threat. It remains one of the most famous strikeouts in baseball history.

But it was the great Babe Ruth himself who ended all hope for the Yankees' second World Championship, as he inexplicably broke for second with two outs in the ninth with the dangerous Bob Meusel at the plate. Meusel swung and missed and Cardinals catcher Bob O'Farrell gunned the ball to second baseman Rogers Hornsby. Ruth was out by a good ten feet, and the Series was over.

Presented is one of just four full tickets for this contest ever encapsulated by PSA, a remarkable rarity that marks the first of the St. Louis Cardinals' eleven World Championships, a tally that ranks them second only to the team they defeated this day. There is the degree of wear one would expect for a paper item of this advanced vintage, with creasing and some paper loss at upper left, but the overall aesthetics are strong and, most importantly, the perforations remain unbroken. The PSA label points out that Ruth hit his eighth World Series home run in this game, making it a desirable target for Bambino fans as well, despite his ill-advised ninth inning decision. Encapsulated by PSA, Authentic.
