Description

1976 Effa Manley Signed Book. The first and only woman enshrined at Cooperstown, Effa Manley married into the sport of baseball, sharing ownership responsibilities of the Negro League's Newark Eagles with her husband Abe from 1935 to 1946, and taking sole control upon his death until 1948. Her posthumous Hall of Fame induction would spawn enormous interest in her autograph, with supply falling far short of demand. Here we find one of the finest examples in the hobby, a personalized inscription in 10/10 blue ink applied to the "In Memoriam" page honoring her deceased husband in her softcover book Negro Baseball..Before Integration. The 1976 first edition book likewise presents in flawless condition. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
