1954 Sports Illustrated First Issue and Original Envelope. Milwaukee's Eddie Mathews was the first athlete to appear on the cover of the sporting world's most prominent magazine, Sports Illustrated. Offered here is the first issue of the popular August 16, 1954 publication, with its Topps baseball card foldout still completely intact.
