Description
1951 Mickey Mantle Signed Commerce High School Yearbook. The 1951 season was a year of highs and growing pains for Mickey Mantle. At just 19, he debuted with the Yankees as a highly touted switch-hitting phenom but struggled early, batting under .200 and briefly returning to the minors, shaken by pressure and self-doubt. Recalled later that season, Mantle adjusted and showed flashes of brilliance, finishing with 13 home runs and a .267 average. Despite the setbacks, 1951 laid the foundation for Mantle's greatness, teaching resilience and marking the beginning of a legendary Hall of Fame career.Although, Mantle reached the Big Apple in '51, he still maintained a close tie to his hometown of Commerce, Oklahoma. This 1951 Commerce High School yearbook is inscribed and signed "To Barbara with Best Regards, Mickey Mantle" in blue ink by the town's favorite son on the first page in his "early career" format.
