    Description

1950's Baseball & Records Books From Charles Comiskey II Collection Lot of 4. The Comiskey Collection

It's a name that remains synonymous with Chicago White Sox baseball, and one properly immortalized in Cooperstown bronze. The collection that appears in the lots that follow spans six decades of the team's history, beginning with what may be the earliest ChiSox document in private hands, and continuing on to feature a wide assortment of material from sons J. Louis and Charles A. Comiskey II, who carried on the ownership of the club following their father's passing. Many of the key moments in team history are memorialized, from the team's first World Series appearance in 1906, to the famous World Tour of 1913-14, to the club's eventual sale to another Hall of Fame executive, Bill Veeck, in 1959. All items were stored for decades in the attic of Charles Junior's home before they were acquired by our consignor, and they make their auction debut here.

From the 1950's, this lot includes four books from Charles Comiskey II's personal collection. A hardcover book for the Official History of the National League 75th Anniversary is still wrapped in protective wrapping. From 1953, the National Game Blue Book is a spiral bound volume signed inside two times by Comiskey. The Corporate Records book from the 1959 season includes updates through 1962. Finally an unused leather-bound appointment book with Comiskey's name printed on the front in gold lettering. All are in Excellent-Mint or better condition.
