    Description

1945 Mel Ott "TIME" Magazine Pony Edition CGC 5.5 - None Higher.
In the midst of his 20th season when this issue of TIME magazine was published in the summer of 1945, Mel Ott willed his diminutive frame to 21 home runs and a .308 average in what would become his final full season. Master Melvin also became the third member of the 500 Home Run Club less than a month after TIME shoved this issue out the door. The offered publication is graded CGC 5.5 with none higher. This "Pony Edition" was specially printed for the U.S. Armed Forced still fighting in the Second World War, they were produced in a smaller format to facilitate easier transport and distribution. Also of note these editions were printed without advertisements. The pages are classified as "OFF-WHITE TO WHITE" by the grader, who also adds the note "Pony Edition Mel Ott cover illustration by Ernest Hamlin Baker," who illustrated over 300 different covers for TIME. Issue dated July 2, 1945. Encapsulated by CGC.
