    Description

1918-25 Babe Ruth Notebook Lot of 2. Two Hall of Famers and a disgraced Black Sox pitcher on the cover makes this rare circa 1918 "Play Ball" notebook a genuine treasure for the cultured collector. Ruth is the main focus of the design, exhibiting his southpaw pitching style in the uniform of the Boston Red Sox. Slim Sallee, Eddie Collins and Eddie Cicotte appear in smaller photographic vignettes below. The 8x10" notebook still holds its lined pages within, and exhibits only a dime-sized area of paper loss and very mild staining in the white border area of the cover to illustrate its age. A remarkably strong example of this rare collectible.

Ruth is depicted on the cover of this 5.5x9" notebook at the height of his popularity as a Yankee, following through in the house that he built, circa 1925. Covers and spine are attached but have separated from inner pages, which are still attached to each other. The front cover displays toning, border chipping and light pencil writing. While the condition is rough, the notebook is still attractive thanks to the wonderful image of Ruth.
