1951 Mickey Mantle Hits First Home Run Wearing #7 Program. Mantle started his 1951 rookie season wearing #6, as he was believed to be destined to follow in the footsteps of numbers three, four and five. After a rocky start, he was sent down to the minors for additional seasoning. When he returned, he was given #7, which he wore for remainder of his career. The presented program dates from the 8/25 contest versus the Indians in Cleveland when Mantle recorded his first home run wearing his new number. The blast was also career dinger number eight.Scored, the offering accounts for Mantle's third inning blast. The inside staples have rusted. The back cover has a slight rip.
