    Description

1942 Major League Baseball All-Star Game Program with Rare Insert. It's the rarest of all publications from the Midsummer Classic, the first contested during the United States' participation in the Second World War. This combat status is the reason for the scarcity--just 33,694 were in attendance at the Polo Grounds event, a reduction of over 20,000 from the previous edition in Detroit. Reduced wartime attendance was only half of the equation, however, as the majority of programs from this game are thought to have been lost to paper drives in support of the war effort. What makes this particular offering enticing is that it includes the original armed forces support insert. The program is unscored and survives in marvelous EX-MT condition.
