Description

1924 Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb Signed World Series Program. Fifteen years before they would share space on the dais for the grand opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, the two greatest batters of the prewar era met at the Polo Grounds in New York City for a Christy Walsh promotion and to view the Fall Classic contest between the Giants and the Washington Senators. Born of that historic summit is this official World Series program signed in 10/10 black fountain pen ink by the former Home Run King and Hit King respectively. While artifacts from the Hall of Fame induction and the later Esquire Magazine baseball competition which pitted Ruth and Cobb as opposing managers have surfaced in the hobby, it is exceedingly rare to find them paired in a playing-days format. The program itself is worth no small amount of attention, particularly in its impressive condition, with no tears or staining to report, and only a couple small bends in the cover's border area. Center score sheets are unmarked. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
