Description
1923 Yankee Stadium Grand Opening Day Program. On April 18, 1923, Babe Ruth christened his House with the Bronx baseball palace's first long ball, and a four to one victory over his former club, the Boston Red Sox. "Some ball yard," he told reporters asking for a post-game commentary. While the reproductions of this coveted publication--issued at the time of the 1976 Stadium reopening--are fairly commonly encountered, just a scant few have survived from the original 1923 Grand Opening.
This rare publication from the opening of the Bronx landmark exhibits considerable wear throughout, including detached covers, creasing and paper loss. An imperfect specimen, but one must excuse its shortcomings in light of the tremendous rarity and desirability. Scoresheet is scored.
