Description
1910 World Series Program (Chicago Cubs). This is a wonderful piece of Cubs memorabilia, and rarely seen at that. A full scorebook from the Cubs' 1910 World Series foray against Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics. The 10-by-7.5-inch book has 28 black-and-white pages and has spots of orange color added to the cover, back cover and inside front and back covers. The book presents in very good condition but might have to be technically placed below that because of some splitting on spine and the tiniest bit of paper loss to the upper right-hand corner of the back cover, along with only a bit of writing on the scorecard section. Inside are oodles of spectacular images of the players from both clubs; the Cubs wound up with a neat array of individual portraits of Tinker, Evers, Chance, Mordecai Brown and the rest of the crew, but the Athletics had to content themselves with the traditional team picture. The Cubs also boasted a snappy dual-photo center-page panoramic with the players in uniform above and in suit and tie below. There is also a large image of a young (relatively speaking) Connie Mack on page 3; he got the last laugh as the Athletics took the Series in five games. From the Roger Marth Collection.Auction Info
