1908 World Series Program (Chicago Cubs). Just the fifth example of this monumentally scarce program we've ever handled, the first two each having commanded prices exceeding $35,000. While those were, admittedly, impressive results, they're hardly inexplicable. Remember, this is the last Chicago Cubs World Series victory prior to the team's magical championship run of last season. One would estimate that no more than a dozen surviving examples are available to tempt the Windy City faithful.

Appreciating considerably from its original ten cent price tag, this sixteen-page relic is a masterpiece of Dead Ball Era design, with marvelous photographic portraits of legends like Tinker, Evers and Three Finger Brown nestled within. The center scorecard is filled in by its original owner, while the Cubs' 6-0 Game 2 victory is tallied in pencil. Condition is admittedly rough, with a considerable vertical fold through the center (large tear through the center of the back cover), and numerous wrinkles and staining exhibited throughout. In addition, the front and back covers are separated from the binding, but with a steady hand could be restored to its original form. It's certainly deserving of its "Poor" rating, but let's see how you look at more than 100 years old! This is a program for the Cubs fan who believed a 1908 would remain out of his reach. It may not be pretty, but the memory still is.
